on Leadership"
Sabbatical Programme
The Focus on Leadership programme gives leaders and managers the opportunity to step outside their usual fields of endeavour to focus on and explore a particular aspect of leadership in a flexible and supportive educational environment.
The programme is designed for anyone who has an interest in the processes underlying effective leadership but is perhaps best suited to experienced leaders and leaders in transition who need the opportunity to "think outside the box" and recharge themselves for the challenges ahead. It can also be an invaluable opportunity for leadership practitioners and consultants to develop their research skills and experience.
Depending on your situation and interests you may wish to spend a period from several days to several months, either full-time or intermittently, exploring your chosen subject. We will arrange for you to become registered to use the University library and computing services and staff at the Centre for Leadership Studies will be on hand to help you determine how best to approach your research. You will become part of a community of academics and practitioners with whom you can share your ideas, gain new insights and be offered support and guidance on how to conduct your enquiry and interpret findings.
Completing a piece of independent research can be rewarding in its own right, however, you are also likely to acquire contemporary knowledge, research skills, networking opportunities, personal insights and a fresh outlook; as well as the opportunity of writing up your research for publication and/or progressing to more advanced study. Whilst the personal benefits of such a programme are evident, it can also offer great benefits for your employing organisation, providing new ideas, skills, and direction.
